Yarn Holders
Wooden Umbrella Swift
These are the original Swedish made swifts from GLIMAKRA.
A swift is used to hold a skein of yarn to make winding the yarn easier. Commonly used in conjunction with a Ball Winder, as shown, or you can mount them horizontally which can make for easier un-winding. Also useful for measuring off warp when weaving.
They are made from birch and are a natural finish, not lacquered. They hold skeins up to 72" around.
Niddy Noddy
Makes a 1.5m (5') round skein. Take the yarn from the spinning wheel bobbin onto the niddy noddy. It has specially shaped crossbars that allow the skein (hank) of yarn to slide off easily. If you have tried to make a skein (hank) around the back of a chair, you will know the difference!
Tapered ends for easy skein removal.
